Having lived in the northern part of Essex for over 30 years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible draw of this region. Over four decades in the property industry have given me a unique perspective on the geographical movements of buyers. Traditionally, people made small, incremental moves within the county – from Epping to Ingatestone, and then from Ingatestone to The Easters, for example. However, the pandemic has spurred greater leaps of faith, with many buyers moving out of London and venturing much further afield. These new residents often find themselves pleasantly surprised by the rural idyll that awaits them in North Essex, far beyond the urban edges of the county.

Essex is a large county, offering over 1,500 square miles of beautiful countryside, and North Essex is home to some of its most stunning landscapes. For instance, the harvest season in late July and August is a busy time for farmers in Essex, particularly in this arable farming region. During this period, the air can be filled with dust, and the hum of combines working late into the night is a common sound. However, many rural dwellers see this as a wonderful time of year—a reminder of the hard work that goes into maintaining the beautiful landscapes they enjoy year-round.
